Who we are

ARTISAN FLORISTs

We take our inspiration from our rural surroundings, looking to the past for influence, creating natural, winsome and romantic flowers. Our work reflects the changing seasons, whether it is a tumbling hedgerow in Autumn or a farm meadow in summer.

“Our creations evoke a walk through a rambling cottage garden by using beautiful scented flowers from our own cutting garden, local growers and flower markets.”

MEET Kirsten

Kirsten’s first job whilst still at school was as a florist in London. An interest in flowers and the natural world never left her and quite a few years later she decided to enrol on a career change course. Queen of the Meadow was founded in early 2019 to showcase British flowers and foliage and offer an alternative to the traditional flowers sold on the hight street.

Kirsten, lead florist and founder of Queen of the Meadow retrained as a florist at the Tallulah Rose Flower School in 2019.

Based in rural surroundings in South Wales, she works from her studio on a working farm. She is a keen gardener and grows many varieties of flowers and foliage for use in her floral artistry. Within the cutting garden are several ducks and chickens which roam the garden and farm freely, keeping the snail and slug population down.

My workshop sits in the garden surrounded by the chatter of the birds, this helps me to connect with nature.

Our flowers and ethos

We source as many of our flowers from local growers as POSSIBLE and we also grow unusual varieties of flowers and foliage at home in the cutting garden. this creates something very unique for each wedding.

Working with seasonal British flowers ensures that the most organic forms are used in our work as well as using as many wiggly and wild stems! It also means less air miles are used, it supports the British growing industry and uses flowers that have not been subjected to pesticides.

Sustainability and an eco conscious mindset are the core values of Queen of the Meadow, we do not use any floral foam in our work, using only traditional methods of flower arranging instead. Floral foam and floral bricks are not biodegradable and are a single use plastic. By not using floral foam there is a truly natural and loose feel to our work.
